The Celebration of Christian Worship

Celebrating over 175 Years of Faith & Hope

March 7, 2010                                Third Sunday in Lent                                        10:00 AM

Eternal God, your kingdom has broken into our troubled world through the life, death and resurrection of your Son. Help us to hear your word and obey it, and bring your saving love to fruition in our lives through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

  Prayer of Confession

Divine Healer, so often we get so focused on today's problems we forget the big picture. We forget that you have promised to always be there guiding and protecting us, and that all things will work out for good for those who love you. Our trust falters, and we take matters into our own hands but soon realize that things are out of control. When that happens, bring us back to you. Help us remember you are always there loving us and providing for us so that whatever comes our way, we will face it together. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

OUR RESPONSE TO THE WORD

*Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.  He descended into hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father almighty.  From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

  Offering - “What Wondrous Love Is This”

 *Doxology (Hymnal #625)

  *Offertory Prayer

Light of the World, you have created us to reflect your light so that others may be able to see in the darkness. Thank you for the ways your light shines in us and for the time we have been given to share your light. Help us to realize how much the light grows when we share it and give us the courage to share the light of our time, talent, and treasures to whomever you place in our path. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

  Family Prayers, The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever.  Amen.
